Slayer Gear Guide
Slayer is typically only built as a DD (Damage Dealer). However, some options are included that make Slayers more durable, allowing them to solo dungeons. These will be distinguished as "dungeon preferred".
Slayer damage scales entirely off your mainhand weapon, so even if you use a sword in the offhand, your damage won't be hindered (except by the offhand substats). Similar to other classes with offhand shields, Slayer is still affected by Piercings (but not Monster Piercings) and Awakenings on the offhand weapon.
TIP: If Champion jewels are too expensive, pick up a Marksman set! While the stat effects from the rings and earrings won't help you much, the combined set effect (ICD+15%, Attack+8%) can give you a huge boost in power for a much lower price.
Level 1
While all of these are items you can equip at level 1, many of them will not be feasibly obtainable until level 150+. If you're gearing your first character, please check back as you progress, but don't worry about getting these early on.

Level 120
At level 120 you have some optional choices. Vampire axes will give you a nice boost to damage, or you can use a Bloody Sword in your offhand for a budget upgrade. The Nox Set is slightly worse for 1v1 damage, but provides a nice boost in HP that can be helpful in dungeons.
(Optional) Vampire 1H Axe(s) from Aminus Dungeon
(Optional) Nox Set from Red Meteonyker (dungeon preferred)
(Optional) Bloody 1H Sword for offhand from Red Meteonyker

(Optional) Ancient 1H Axe from Cursed Aminus Dungeon
Level 130-H
At level 130, you have two sets to pick from. Altered Piercing Heraud Set is slightly stronger (3% more attack) and also gives 12% HP, which can be extremely useful for dungeons, but is also typically much more expensive.
Level 130 is usually a big breakpoint for Slayers in terms of damage.
